Bipole III Transmission Project
Manitoba (2009 to 2011)
Project entailed building a 1,384 km long high voltage DC transmission line through western Manitoba, from Keewatinoo Converter Station to Riel Converter Station. Working with MMM Group Ltd. (now WSP), acted as the Assistant Project Manager with project coordination and managing socio-economic effects assessment, including Electric and Magnetic Field Studies and investigation of impact on human health and safety, Indigenous Traditional Knowledge, cultural and heritage resource studies, and climate change studies for the project. Designed Indigenous Traditional Knowledge Program for the project, which involved conducting workshops, presentations, and meetings in over 23 Indigenous communities across Manitoba. Was involved in review of the trappers and landowners’ compensation policy and development and negotiation of work plans with different Indigenous communities and the Manitoba Metis Federation in scoping their traditional knowledge studies.
