Psychosocial Impact Assessment

Working in collaboration with a clinical psychologist, Narratives developed a Psychosocial Impact Assessment to understand the psychological, social, cultural, spiritual impacts of the proposed in-situ decommissioning of the Whiteshell Reactor (“WR-1”) at the Whiteshell Laboratories. The study presents a psychosocial baseline entailing an account of the Sagkeeng collective identity, identifies Value Components, narrates historical psychosocial impacts, impacts from industry in the area, and impacts from the proposed project. Trauma-informed mitigation measures are presented for consideration.
