Indigenous Guardians Program

Niiwin Wendaanimok Partnership

April 2020 – March 2022

Project entails development of an Indigenous Guardians Program for the proposed twinning of the Trans Canada Highway across Ontario. The program incorporates key elements of protection of the lands, skies, soils, and waters, and the Anishinaabe identity through cultural practices, ceremonies, and Anishinaabemowin (language). The program incorporates creative elements of teaching and learning targeted at community members of all ages. Narratives is assisting members of the four Anishinaabe communities in the Niiwin Wendaanimok Partnership, Washagamis Bay First Nation, Niisaachewan Anishinaabe Nation (Dalles), Wauzhushk Onigum Nation (Rat Portage), and Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, in the development of this program.
